Oscar Maynez Grijalva, a former state forensic chief looks down into a canal next to the cotton field where six of eight bodies were found. Maynez resigned from his position after he was asked to plant evidence to convict two bus drivers, Victor Uribe and Gustavo Meza, for the murders, now called “The Cotton Field Murders.” September 21, 2005

Victor García Uribe, a bus driver from Ciudad Juárez, lost everything when he was accused and later convicted of murdering eight Cd. Juárez women and sentenced to 50 years in prison on October 13, 2004. The judge convicted Uribe even after Uribe claimed his confession was obtained through torture. The judge stated that allegations and evidence of torture were irrelevant to his decision. He was released July 14, 2005 due to an appeal.
